    Comments and Curiosities

"Clustering mountain pinnate palm form Malaysia, Thailand and Sumatra. Leaves long and arching with flat leaflets that continue to drop with arch of leaf. Lots of color: petioles are yellow, trunks are ringed and green, crownshafts are purple to olive green and flowers are bright pink. Rare in cultivation." (Geoff Stein)

A medium sized, clustering palm native to rainforests on the Malay Peninsula and on Sumatra to 800 m (2600 ft.), with multiple, slender, green trunks and arching, finely pinnate leaves. It is particularly attractive when fruiting, with bright red stalks and blackish fruits that can be a focal point in the undergrowth of the tropical garden. (RPS.com)
